Surgeon Remington bottom metal can be used to upgrade a Remington 700, increasing its accuracy and enabling the additional safety and firepower of a detachable magazine. This bottom metal is also compatible with Surgeon receivers. Some minor fitting may bre required with Remington receivers. Long and short action models are available. 0.625″ bedding pillars and ¼”-28 tpi cap screws are provided which will give the best accuracy once installed. A lot of thought has gone into this unit as evidenced by the low profile ambidextrous magazine relase and the bevelled magazine well which speeds magazine changes. Effort has been put into smoothing all the exterior edges for maximum comfort and to avoid snagging.
The Rem bottom metal is precision machined from the same 7075 T6 aluminum used for the mil-spec M16 recievers. The visible components are hardcoat anodized matte black for corrosion and abrasion resistance. This unit takes Accuracy International self-lubricating magazines reviewed elsewhere on this site. A 5-round unit is included with the bottom metal.
The short action model weights 10.8 oz. (306g), including magazine. It fits the Surgeon Tactical and RSR receivers, plus Remington 700 short action. The long action model weighs 15.1 oz. (428g), including magazine. It fits the Surgeon XL and Remington 700 long action.
