Troy Battle Sights Review

Troy Industries have won themselves a great reputation for designing no compromise weapons and accessories for use in combat environments. Many Troy products are in service with the US Military and foreign Armed Forces. Troy battle sights combine fixed or folding front and rear sights in a number of configurations.

The most basic Troy battlesight is their fixed unit. Like their other battlesights (apart from the new Micro and Gas Block ranges) these sights mimic the height of A2 factory sights when mounted on a flat top rifle. The advantage of fixed back up iron sights is that they are there, ready in the bottom third of your optical sight’s field of view instantly without having to be flipped up.

These AR15 iron sights are Type III anodised in either black or dark earth and are made of aircraft grade aluminium and are held on by stainless steel fixings to resist rust in marine environments.  They have a flip aperture rear sight set to 300 and 500 meters and adjust in 0.5 MoA increments in exactly the same way as A1 iron sights do. The Troy M4 front sight is available with M16 or HK style open topped circle protector style which many regard as easier to center for more rapid engagement.

The next step up in the Troy Battle Sights are the folding units.  Again these are available in M16 or HK format. The folding units fold down to only 0.460″ high and again lock to the rail with stainless fixings.

No levers are necessary to deploy and the back up iron sight units lock up or down using two powerful spring detents. The battle sight rearsights are available in black or dark earth to suit weapons used in different environments.

An alternative to the standard flip up back sight is availabe in the Di-optic aperture battle sight or DOA format which has a diamond shaped aperture with a white line at each corner for longer range and an open topped diamond with white cross bar for shorter ranges.

This arrangement is claimed to be easier to centre and more accurate out to longer ranges than a round aperture.

Finally, both conventional and DOA styles of folding Troy Battle Sights can be had with tritium enhancement for night use.

This features a dot on the foresight and two dots on the rear. There is a considerable jump in price with the tritium models of AR15 BUIS, but they offer an absolutely fool proof alternative for night use that is not reliant on batteries or electronics.
