Sinclair International AR Bolt Vise Review

AR bolt vise

AR Bolt Vise

Removing the spring pin from an AR bolt is a tricky job that can easily result in the ejector and spring flying out and getting lost. The Sinclair International AR Bolt Vise holds the bolt assembly securely as you compress the ejector. The pin drops out of a hole in the M-16 bolt vise body and you slowly reduce the pressure on the compression screw and catch the ejector and spring. This makes removal a much easier and less annoying job that only requires two hands. It is just as useful during reassembly and can also be used to hold the bolt while replacing the ejector or gas rings. You can either hold the AR-15 bolt vise in your hands or secure it in a bench vise for added security. The unit’s body is made of aluminum with the screw machined from stainless steel and left in a natural finish.

Carrier Key Staking Tool Review

Carrier key staking tool

Carrier key staking tool

Staking carrier key screws prevents them from backing out under extended use. If you don’t use the right tools for this it can damage the gas key, screws or carrier. The Brownells carrier key staking tool enables you to stake the keys with precision from the sides. The carrier key staking tool holds the carrier in place precisely. You stake the keys by tightening four hex screws which dimple the sides of the gas key. An additional screw holds the carrier tightly in the precision machined tool. To prevent this screw from marking the carrier, its tip has been machined flat.  For long-life, the tip of each screw is hardened to Rc 58-62. The carrier key staking tool is precision machined from 1018 carbon steel and given a black oxide finish. The tool is 3” (7.62cm) long, 2” (5.1cm) wide and 2” high.

Adams Arms Gas Piston Upper Review

Adams Arms Gas Piston Upper

Adams Arms Gas Piston Upper

The Adams Arms Gas Piston Upper is Complete upper receiver assembly comes ready to install on mil-spec lower receiver. The advantages of AR gas piston operation are clean, positive cycling and a less violent operating cycle. As gas isn’t vented into the piston AR receiver, the bolt, bolt carrier and fire control group remain clean for far longer and require much less cleaning. A cooler running gun is less hard on its components and less lube means less dirt and sand grinding away at the AR’s internals.

The less violent cycling of the gas piston AR gets your sights back on target faster and all but eliminates the chance of hot gas venting into your face. Nor will the charging handle blow back in the event of latch failure. The AR-15 piston upper is forged from 6061 T-6 aluminum Type III hard anodized for corrosion and abrasion protection.

The Adams Arms AR-15 piston upper gas block offers three settings to enable normal fire, fire with a suppressor fitted and single shot, non-cycling operation. All versions of the gas piston AR upper have a flat top with Picatinny rail and a quad rail hand guard. The barrels are USGI chrome-lined with the M16A2 flash hider.

Pistol Extended Rail – 7½” Melonite-coated barrel, and an extended, aluminum handguard with 6″ side rails, a 5¾” bottom rail, and a 4¼” top rail that forms a continuous 12″ rail with the receiver flattop and gas block. Side rails include integral sockets for QD sling swivels.

The pistol upper is subject to NFA rules – do not fit to a lower with a buttstock fitted without getting authorisation from the BATF for a Short Barrelled Rifle.
