Primary Weapons Systems FN SCAR Rail Extension Review

Primary Weapons FN SCAR Rail Extension

Primary Weapons FN SCAR Rail Extension

The Primary Weapons Systems FN SCAR Rail Extension serves several important purposes. Firstly it gives you an extra five inches of rail space in front of the SCAR’s rather short factory rail. This gives you more flexibility in where to mount accessories. Unlike FN’s own rail extension to top rail is at the same height as the one on the existing unit and carries on beyond the gas block. A major advantage is that the extension makes it much easier to use the foward, thumb-over hold popularised by Magpul in their instructional videos without getting your index or other fingers on a hot gas block. Primary Weapons Systems put a lot of thought into designing the unit and the unit joins the existing factory rail almost seamlessly. It is fully compatible with the factory iron sights and with the quick change barrel system. The limited rotation sling points are also retained. Attaching the SCAR Rail Extension requires the removal of the factory bottom rail and will involve the appliction of heat via a heat gun or blow torch, although some owners have successfully used a soldering iron to heat the thread locker to the point where it will release. All in all this is a well-engineered product that will add utility to your FN SCAR rifle and make it more competitive in three-gun competitions. The PWS SCAR Rail Extension fits the SCAR 16 and 17 L and H models and comes with everything necessary to fit it except a blow torch/heat gun.
