Troy Industries Alpha Rails Review

Troy Industries Alpha Rails

Troy Industries Alpha Rails

The Troy Industries Alpha Rail is essentially a version of the Troy TRX Extreme that uses a new and easier installation process. Their new locking system does not require the removal of the AR’s barrel nut and replacement with one of proprietary try design. Instead you remove the weapon’s delta ring and spring and the unit clamps on to the USGI barrel nut using three blocks tensioned by Allen headed screws. You tension these screws to correctly align the Alpha Rail. The Alpha Rail also has its longitudinal grooves extend around the entire diameter of the rail, whereas the TRX Extreme is smooth at 5 O’clock. Both rails take the Troy Industries Squid Grip that enables you to grip the rail without blocking off the ventilation holes as do most other grip designs. They also result in a much narrower, less chunky grip than a quad rail fitted with rail cover grips.

Both the Alpha Rail and TRX Extreme are very rigid and lightweight and cool exceptionally well. They come with an integral top rail and detachable side rails to avoid unnecessary weight. Troy make a special sling swivel attachment that fits directly into one of the ventilation holes, doing away with a heavy attachment that uses up rail space. Machined from 6061 T-6 aluminum with a matte black milspec Type III coating, the rails come in 7.2″, 11″, 13″ and 15″. You can purchase them with or without an integral flip up front sight.
