The Daniel Defense Omega X rail combines their Omega Rail features with their proprietary Bolt-up mounting system. The Omega X rail provides a continuous length of top rail in conjunction with the flat-top receiver for maximum flexibility in optics mounting. It is used in conjunction with the standard front sight base. It is a two piece system. Most piston gas systems can be accommodated by this railed hand guard. The Daniel Defence Omega X rail is secured via a proprietary barrel nut which must be secured with the AR15 Lite Rail Barrel Nut Wrench (sold separately), so gunsmithing is required for installation. Four allen screws are tightened against the barrel nut with the hex key provided to secure and alight the handguard. No permanent modifications to the weapon are required with this AR rail system. Once installed, you can easily detach the rail system from the barrel nut for easy maintenance of the gas tube or piston. Free floating operation prevents stresses on the fore end affecting accuracy. Limited rotation quick detach quick swivel stud mounts are installed at the front of each side rail. The rail slots in the AR quad rail are alphanumerically numbered to enable return of items to their correct locations and consistent repeat zero. A large number of ventilation cuts lighten the Picatinny rail system and ensure the barrel is able to cool. The Omega X rail is precision machined from 6061 T6 aluminum and mil-spec Type III hardcoat anodized in a tough matte black finish to match the finish of current in-service weapons. All models of AR hand guard come with santoprene rail covers to protect the machined surfaces and provide a more comfortable grip. These are able to resist temperatures up to 350º F.
