DPMS Upper Review

DPMS Hi-rider upper

DPMS Hi-rider upper

DPMS competition uppers are designed for those who want to do away with the weight penalty of the forward assist, case deflector and dust cover. They are ideal for competition shooters where it is unlikely that sand or dirt will enter the action and where you are likely to eject a round that fails to chamber due to potential accuracy issues. It also makes for a very attractive and ‘clean’ looking weapon. DPMS competition uppers come in two versions. The DPMS Hi-rider upper has a ventilated Picatinny rail positioned one inch above that of a normal flattop AR15. It puts optics in the correct line of sight for the shooter without having to resort to specialised high line of sight mounts. Large objective lens scopes can also be mounted more securely, without having to use very high mounts.

The DPMS Low-Pro upper is the same as the Hi-Rider, but has a rail of the same height as a conventional A3/A4 upper receiver. This enables more flexibility of mounting, particularly where large night vision units or magnifiers are involved.
