EXO coating, which the Army specify for 60 and 81mm mortar components and Blackhawk helicopter hoists, puts a very thin, ultra-hard, self lubricating surface on the handle, dramatically reducing wear and ensuring smooth operation. Users report great increases in reliability and component life when using EXO coated components. The FailZero AR-15 charging handle finish is not as slick as the one they use on their bolt carrier and can take paint. It comes as standard in tan to suit current theaters of operations.
