The Magpul AFG Angled Fore Grip was designed to provide a more ergonomic alternative the the vertical fore grips that have become highly popular on ARs and other weapons over the last decade. Vertical fore grips offer better control than horizontal fore ends, but they are not designed for the most comfortable hold and are fatiguing to use for long periods resulting in fatigue and loss of dexterity if the weapon is kept at the ready position for long periods.

The Magpul AFG provides a natural angle for the hand to sit at with the thumb resting naturally in line with the stock and the palm up. This provides positive control without interfering with blood flow. The hand is also positioned closer to the line of recoil for optimum control. The AFG provides a convenient reference point for the hand when mounting the weapon making the rifle quicker to shoulder and aim. It uses a removable insert to provide an optional shelf to accept the index finger. The hard, chemical resistant polymer construction is easier on the hands in very hot or very cold climates and can be dyed in different colours – OD green, foliage green, dark earth and black versions are available.

Deep grooves ensure a secure hold, even in wet conditions. The AFG locks into place with a steel cross bolt. Two models of AFG are manufactured. The AFG-1 is the full sized model provides a larger area to grasp and takes up five and a half inches of rail. The AFG-2 is shorter and narrower and takes up less rail space, making it compatible with a wider range of weapons. Neither model will interfere with magazine changes when fitted to Kalashnikovs.

The AFG1 is 5 1/2″ (14 cm) long, 1 5/8″ (4.1 cm) wide and protrudes approximately 1 3/4″ below the rail and weighs 2.8 oz. (79 g)

The AFG2 is 4 3/4″ (12 cm) long, 1 3/8″ (3.5 cm) wide and protrudes approximately 2″ (5.1 cm) below the rail and weighs 2.5 oz (71 g)
