Magpul CTR Stock Review

Magpul CTR stock

Magpul CTR stock

The Magpul CTR stock (Compact/Type Restricted) is the next step up from their MOE collapsible stock and features a unique supplemental friction locking mechanism that prevents wobble for a very solid feel when the weapon is shouldered. The Magpul CTR is an M16 collapsible stock that his highly durable with a polymer exterior over a machined aluminium A-frame.  This carbine stock is made of heat resistant polymer and AR15 stock users will find it very rugged. The Magpul CTR carbine stock has a wider comb than the M4 buttstock and this sloping comb will provide a better cheekweld for more accurate shooting. Its contours are designed not to be easily snagged and the large, easily operated release lever is inside the skeleton part of the rigid A-frame collapsible stock to prevent accidental actuation. The extra-power lock mechanism of this AR stock uses a premium chrome-silicon spring to avert auto-collapse failure and maintains strength by resisting spring relaxation. There are four sling slots and a hole in the toe for a sling swivel or clip-on sling and a rear QD sling swivel mount to accept QD swivels of up to 1.5″ width. A soft, symthetic rubber butt pad ensures this M16 stock will not slip from your shoulder. This is available in different thicknesses (0.30″ supplied with military and 0.55″ with the commercial – 0.70″ is available as an optional extra) and CTR cheek risers can be purchased in different heights for non AR15 applications (they would foul the AR15’s charging handle unless the stock is fully extended). The Magpul CTR carbine stock is available in Black, Dark Earth, OD Green and Foliage Green.  It is available in two versions:

Milspec: This fits 1.14″ outside diameter buffer tubes on Colt and other manufacturer produced M4 carbines that accept four and six-position adjustable stocks.

Commercial: This fits the larger 1.17 ” outside diameter buffer tubes found on most commercial AR15 cabines.
